2GoCup visits Seal Rescue Ireland

2GoCup’s seal of approval

It’s safe to say the 2GoCup team had a fantastic day out visiting the amazing Seal Rescue Ireland Centre in Co. Wexford. We started the visit off with a very informative and interactive talk with Kim who went through the many things the Rescue Centre does from rescuing, recovering, rehabilitation, and education to the impact climate change is having on the seals of Ireland.

Once Kim finished answering all the curious questions we had, we made our way to meet some of the pups in recovery. We learned about the stages of each pen and what their purpose is such as sea school; Seals learning to catch fish independently.

We were quickly put to work as we got suited and booted in water gear and made our way to the outdoor pool where two curios seals were enjoying watching us clean out their pool from dirt and fallen sticks. It was a great experience for the team to be so close to these amazing animals. We don’t know who was more fascinated, us or the seals.

Our hard work was rewarded by a sunny stroll through the forest area where we walked and talked while picking up some litter. It was a unique way to see the added projects the centre does outside of the seal rescues. They have their own biodiversity patch along with a tree planting area which has over 10,000 planted trees already!

To end the day 2GoCup donated and adopted two seals – Selkie and Puca. Two seals we learned so much about in our introduction talk whose story we fell in love with. We are already receiving gorgeous updates on both seals and their progress, both are doing swimmingly well.

It was a team day out we will not forget.

We can’t thank Kim, the Seal Rescue team and the volunteers enough for taking the time out of their busy day to teach us and show us around the centre. We can not recommend them enough for a team day out but if that doesn’t suit and you want to help in some way, head over to their website where you can adopt a seal or donate to their amazing work – https://www.sealrescueireland.org
